The Solar System on Your Day — where every planet really was

A birth, a wedding, a company’s founding: where the nine planets stood around the Sun that day, seen from above. Nine orbits, the Sun in the middle, every planet in its real place on that day; Earth ringed, the Moon a small dot beside it. For the day a baby was born, an anniversary or a founding day. You enter the date, and the time if you like. The planets are computed from NASA JPL’s orbital elements, at their real positions for that moment — not one dot is placed by hand. Those elements are valid from 1800 to 2050, so the poster takes those years. The time barely moves the planets; it only changes which side of Earth the Moon is on. The orbits are not to scale — Neptune’s orbit is seventy-seven times Mercury’s, and at true scale Mercury would be a speck — but the angles between the planets are real, and the poster says so beneath. Pluto, if you want it, is drawn on a dashed orbit, marked “dwarf planet”. Each planet’s name sits beside it, placed so no two touch. Your title and a short line at the top; ten palettes. Three sizes (30 × 40, 50 × 70, 70 × 100 cm), on matte poster stock, foam board or heavy card. The picture is the same on every size, only larger; the poster in the preview is exactly the one printed.

The drawing is the designer's; the colour and the logo are yours. What you see above is what we print.
